10 Unproductive Things You Should Never Do In The Morning

In this article, I’ll tell you 10 things you should never do in the morning if you want to get your day off to a happy and productive start.

Most of the time, we start our days on autopilot, just going through our daily routines without paying attention to how we feel or what we do.

When we wake up in the morning, we should make it a point to do certain things, like meditating, stretching, or doing something else we enjoy that will get us in the right frame of mind for the day.

Still, some things people do in the morning hurt their productivity and overall mood. In fact, they can make the rest of our day less fun.

So, here are the 10 things you should never do if you want to have a happy and productive day.

1- Take a look at your email inbox

Even though emails can contain important information about your life or work, you shouldn’t check them as soon as you wake up.

This will make you feel rushed and pull you out of the present.

An IDC Research Report says that 80% of people check their phones as soon as they wake up in the morning.

Especially checking your email will get you to do something.

Nothing is so important that you have to answer your emails right away instead of eating breakfast, working out, or getting ready for the day.

2- Do something big.

We usually feel a little fuzzy when we wake up in the morning, at least until we’ve had some coffee and a good breakfast.

But making big decisions in the morning can be a recipe for disaster, even if we’ve had something to eat and wiped the sleep out of our eyes.

It would help if you didn’t make any big decisions until you were fully awake. That way, you wouldn’t make decisions that you would later regret.

3- Going through social media

People spend a lot of time on social media these days, but checking it first thing in the morning can make us even less productive.

Since most people check their phones as soon as they wake up, social media probably keeps track of most of what people do on their phones in the morning.

Checking notifications and reading about what your friends are up to can be fun, but don’t get lost in social networks until you’ve finished all your work for the day.

It’s an easy way to waste time and a big distraction when you need to get important things done.

4- Take a Look at Your Bank Account

Who wants more stress in the morning when getting ready for work, getting the kids ready for school, and doing all the other things that make up our morning routines?

Reports from the American Psychological Association show that money worries continue to be the biggest source of stress in people’s lives.

Still, the morning isn’t the best time to look at your bank statements because it could set you off on the wrong foot for the day.

If you need to look at your finances, try to do it when you have the time to look at your costs carefully.

5- Keep up with the news

We all know that the news rarely shows the world in a good light, so why start your day with so much fear and bad news?

Not only that but checking the news and reading the paper can take up a lot of your time in the morning, leaving you less time to get ready for work or spend with your family.

If you like keeping up with the news, try reading just a few of the most important stories and saving the rest for later.

6- Making An Important Purchase

Most of the time, early morning is not the best time to buy something, especially if it’s a car, truck, house, or something similar.

Before making a big purchase, you should give yourself enough time to think about all of your options and not waste a lot of money when you’re tired in the morning.

Before making any big purchases, wait until you feel more awake and alert.

7- Using your phone to play games

Playing video games on your phone in the morning is another big way to waste time.

Candy Crush may look fun, but you should wait until you don’t have a million other things to do.

You can always play video games while running errands or working, or while waiting for a doctor or your kids to get out of school.

8- Talk to someone about something

When you’re still a little annoyed and tired, arguing with someone can only end in one way, and it’s not a good one.

To make your points clear in a debate, you have to put in a lot of effort and use logic.

If you argue with someone before you’ve had enough time to wake up and get used to the day, you might say things you don’t mean and talk about your feelings instead of the facts.

9- Snoozing

We set alarms so that we can get up at a certain time to get everything done and get to work or school on time.

Even pressing snooze as soon as you wake up can ruin your day of rest because you’ll have to work harder to get ready.

No one likes rushed and hectic mornings, so make sure you get up when your alarm goes off so you can start your day on a good note.

10- Eating foods that are bad for you or skipping breakfast.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, which isn’t news. However, many people don’t treat it as such.

They either get something quick and easy from a fast-food chain or don’t eat breakfast at all.

WebMD says that skipping breakfast can make people gain weight because they eat bigger meals later to make up for it.

Make sure you take the time to eat a healthy, hearty breakfast so you have the energy to get through the day.
