As a working professional, chances are you’ve had to deal with procrastination and lack of productivity on a regular basis.

In my case, the urge to be creative isn’t simply a nice notion, it’s a necessity.

Without taking purposeful actions to boost output and achieve your goals, you may be sabotaging yourself.

The following are six reasons why your productivity may be stalling.

Absence of Discipline

If you show up to work and refuse to do your job, you could be fired.

Slow down for your own business, and you won’t feel the full impact for some time. It is possible that you will take a break before you lose customers and clients.

Working alone from a home office makes it easy to relax and enjoy the ride. You won’t be chastised for wasting time on Twitter.

This lack of self-discipline can have a devastating effect on your career prospects.

You can easily get into unhealthy habits if you work from home, therefore this is something we have to keep an eye out for.

Discipline isn’t exactly a fun or sexy thing to perform, but it could be time for you to get it in order. There is no such thing as a flawless human. We can, however, train ourselves to put in the constant effort and adhere to a set timetable.

Developing self-control and self-discipline takes time and effort.

Discipline will not miraculously appear when you wake up next week. It’s a slow process, much like building muscle in the gym.

Discipline is something you can and will develop over time. Making it easier for oneself might be as simple as setting an environment conducive to concentrated work.

Forget discipline and self-control, how about cutting out the internet?

Lack Of Motivation

It’s simple to jump out of bed and get to work on some days. Some days are better than others.

When you’re self-employed, you’ll have to deal with periods of low motivation that are unavoidable.

To motivate you to get out of bed in the morning, working a 9 to 5 job comes with the constant fear of being fired. However, in the world of self-employment, things are less apparent.

It’s a good idea to keep ourselves motivated in order to get more done. However, we cannot afford to wait for it to appear.

To make matters worse, once you begin working on a project, inspiration often appears and takes you through to completion.

Start by setting a timer and focus on getting going. You can set the timer for 10 to 20 minutes so that you can concentrate on your project without interruptions.

Make no apologies if you keep working after the alarm goes off because you’re now more driven.

Procrastination is your favorite pastime.

This one should go without saying, but we all know how procrastinators are. Procrastination, in and of itself, isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Procrastination becomes an issue when it becomes the expected result and, thus, the aim.

Procrastination is more pleasurable than completing a task, hence people who prefer procrastination will never try to be productive.

Distractions are allowed or tolerated by you, as long as they don’t interfere

If you don’t check your email every time a new message arrives, the world will not end.

Cries from a wailing baby to the sound of an alarm clock are only two examples of distractions.
