In this post, we are going over 9 quick morning habits to start our day productively.

It’s a well-documented fact that waking up early gives you more time to focus and work on your day’s tasks.

Another benefit of waking up early is that it allows you to get a head start on the day before other people wake up. Getting enough sleep at night also helps make sure you’re extra productive.

Nowadays, one of the first things we do when we wake up is to check our mobile phones. We might have missed a lot of messages and emails while we slept, as well as new updates that happened all while you were busy sleeping soundly. However, this isn’t healthy and can hurt your productivity

Research shows that about 80% of smartphone users look at their phones within the first 15 minutes after waking up in the morning.

Doctors agree that immediately checking your phone as soon as you wake up might lead to a more stressful start to the day and increased feelings of overwhelmingness. Literally, before your day’s even begun, you’re ruining it.

While some people may not know where to begin with making personal changes, there are many small changes you can make and ideas for habits to add that all have a huge impact on your day-to-day life.

Why You Should Have a Morning Ritual?

A morning ritual can help you start your day in a productive and positive way. You can set your mind to the day ahead and set yourself up for success.

The first step to starting a morning ritual is to write down what it will be. You should think about what you want to achieve, how long it will take, and what time of day you want to do it. For example, if you want to write in your journal for 10 minutes every morning before breakfast, then that is what you should write down.

You should also think about how your morning ritual will affect the rest of the day. If you are having trouble waking up early enough in the morning before work, then maybe a nighttime routine would be more helpful for you instead of a morning one.

9 Quick morning Habits to start your day

So, here are 9 quick morning habits that will help you set the tone of your day.

Habit #1: Make Your Bed

Wake up and make your bed right away. This will greatly improve the quality of your day.

Doing one thing will help you with everything. If you want to work and live successfully, discipline is crucial.

In a viral speech at the University of Texas, William H. McRaven talked about how making your bed every morning can change your life. Now he’s written a book on the subject called “Make Your Bed: Little Things Can Change Your Life…and Maybe the World”

Making our bed as soon as we wake up every morning can really make us feel accomplished. This helps to motivate us and make us want to keep going.

Habit #2: Keep your body hydrated

Try replacing your daily caffeine fix with a glass of lukewarm water to stay hydrated. Every morning I drink the juice of three lemons followed by a glass of lukewarm water.

Within a week of doing this ritual, my skin and hair looked healthier, and I felt like a more vibrant person. Some people think breakfast is the most important meal, while others choose to intermittently fast where they only eat for certain hours of the day.

All diets are different and should be honored, but always eat with mindfulness. This will make your digestion & mental energy better. Whether you’re eating too much or living life carelessly, a constipated gut means a clogged brain for you.

Habit #3: Exercise your body and brain

As the saying goes, “Every cell in our body has consciousness.” Yoga and meditation allow us to cultivate a sense of connectedness to all aspects of ourselves — both mind and body.

Setting aside a few minutes every morning to focus on your breath will set the tone for the rest of your day and relieve stress. Twenty minutes of meditation will help you stay focused, cheerful, and optimistic for the next 24 hours and enjoy life more.

The most important factor in starting the day off with enthusiasm is to have a good night’s sleep. Maintaining at least six to eight hours of sleep helps avoid exhaustion and will help you remain content throughout the day.

Habit #4: Be Grateful

Think of all the positive things in your life, which is basically everything. Appreciate what you have, think happy thoughts, and relax.

One of the wonderful things about life is that you should cherish every experience while always appreciating what you have in your life.

Positive affirmations are a great way to start the day — stand in front of the mirror and tell yourself “I am successful”, “I am beautiful” or “I am blessed”. This can help you stay positive all day long!

Habit #5: Stretch Your Body

We know that our brain needs a break to work efficiently. But what about our body?

The truth is that we have to stretch and move around in order to be productive.

This is because when we sit for long periods of time, our muscles tighten up and become stiff. This makes it difficult for us to move around and do the things that need to be done, which can lead to back pain, headaches, and more.

So take a break from your desk and stretch!

Habit #6: Rediscover Your “To-Do” List

Take ten minutes to analyze the following “to-do” list for your day. Prioritize the list and make sure it has a maximum of 3–5 items, chosen from the highest priority at the top to the lower priority at the bottom.

Keeping a list of to-dos rather than having them constantly floating through your mind can help you free up brain space. It also gives you a sense of accomplishment to be able to cross off tasks coming up in your day.

Habit #7: Get Enough Restful Sleep

This last one isn’t an established morning habit but it is important. Before you can incorporate any new healthy habits into your daily routine, you need the foundation that is provided by getting a good night’s sleep.

If you feel groggy, irritable, or exhausted during the day and aren’t sure why then it might be because your sleep quality isn’t high enough.

During sleep, your body works to support and promote healthy brain function, helps you maintain your physical health, and may help with preventing serious chronic diseases.

In fact, sleep plays such an important role in your physical well-being, mental clarity, and quality of life that not getting enough sleep (which varies by person but typically means less than 6–8 hours) can have huge repercussions.

Habit #8 — Eat breakfast with foods high in Folic Acid.

Folic acid is a type of B vitamin that is used in the body to make new cells and help with the production of DNA.

It is important for pregnant women because it helps prevent some birth defects.

In order to get enough folic acid, it is recommended to eat breakfast with foods high in Folic Acid such as leafy green vegetables, oranges, and beans.

Habit 9 — Spend 10–20 minutes reading something that makes you happy before the start of the day

We all know that happiness is a key to success. But it’s not always easy to find the time for it.

The best way to start the day with happiness is by reading something that makes you happy. It could be a blog post, an article, or even a book.

It doesn’t matter how long you read for as long as you are able to read something that makes you happy and feel good about yourself and your life.
